What CBD Oil Could Do for Your Well-being
January 2020 - Many of us live with anxiety or depression, or know someone who does. Some of us may also live with chronic pain.
For those who live with these types of conditions, they may wish to alleviate the symptoms in some way - so is using CBD oil one way to do this?
If you have heard about CBD oil and want to know more about how it could be used to treat these conditions - or you haven't come
across CBD oil before — here’s some information that you might find useful before taking your next steps. It might help you decide what's best
for you and your well-being.
What is CBD Oil, and How Can It Affect Me?
Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a natural plant-based oil that has plant chemicals called cannabinoids. These cannabinoids are naturally
released by the body when we're relaxed or doing something that makes us happy, as well as when we sleep and exercise. They bind to cannabinoid
receptors to stimulate those responses.
Supplemental CBD oil comes from hemp, which is a cannabis plant and related to marijuana. Yet CBD from hemp has almost no
tetra-hydro-cannabinoids (THC), which is the substance in marijuana that has psychoactive effects and can give you a high.
What Can CBD Do for Mental Health Challenges?
Research on both humans and animals says that CBD may help lower feelings of isolation, reduce the effects of post-traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) and relieve autism symptoms. It appears that CBD can calm the brain and support the hippocampus - the part of the brain that's
important for memory and healthy emotion.
CBD oil has shown promise as a treatment for both anxiety and depression. In one Brazilian study, 57 men had either oral CBD or a
placebo 90 minutes before they were to undertake a simulated public speaking test. The 300mg CBD dose was the most effective at significantly
reducing anxiety during the test. The placebo, plus the 150mg and 600mg doses of CBD, had little or no effect.
CBD has also shown antidepressant-like effects in several studies on animals. Such qualities are linked to CBD's ability to act on
the brain receptors for serotonin - a neurotransmitter that regulates both social behavior and mood.
Can CBD Relieve Pain?
The human body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) regulates a number of functions, including appetite, sleep, pain and immune system
response. The body also produces endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors within the nervous system.
There have been studies that show CBD may help to reduce chronic pain by affecting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing
inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters. Several human studies have found a combination of CBD and THC is effective in treating pain
related to arthritis and multiple sclerosis, for instance.
Premier Hemp Company sells full spectrum CBD oil that you may wish to use if you're interested in using this substance for a
condition. However, you should discuss using CBD oil with your doctor before you begin. This is to ensure your safety and to check if it may
interact with any medications or supplements you're already taking.
